Date and Banana Loaf

1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup cup vegetable oil
2 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup mashed ripe banana

1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup chopped date


In bowl, whisk together sugar, yogurt, oil and eggs; stir in banana and vanilla.

In large bowl, whisk together flours, wheat germ, baking powder and baking soda; stir in dates. Stir in banana mixture until combined.

Pour into greased 8 X 4-inch (1.5 L) loaf pan. Bake in centre of 350°F (180°C) oven for about 1 hour or until tester inserted in centre comes out clean. Let cool in pan on rack for 15 minutes. Remove from pan; let cool on rack. Makes 12 slices. (Make-ahead: Wrap in plastic wrap and store for up to 2 days or overwrap and freeze for up to 2 weeks.)
