Olga's Tried, Tested and True Recipes -

Ukrainian Dried Pea Pyrizhky
Vegetarian alternative, these are light and tender baked traditional Ukrainian Pyrizhky. These buns are stuffed with dried split peas, and can be served as a meal on their own or as a side dish.
Chocolate Swirl Coffee Cake
Tender and light with swirls of chocolate, If you want more chocolate just increase the butter spread on the dough and increase cocoa/sugar filling.
Black Forest Torte
Elegant in the old world tradition. Very light cake layers. There is no baking powder or soda in the cake.
Three Tiered Lemon Glazed Kalach
This festive sweet bread with lemon glazed topping can be made for any occasion.
Cranberry Cheesecake
This is a luscious creamy cranberry cheesecake with walnut crust.
Poppy Seed Filled Crescents
This recipe is not as rich as the other recipe here for poppy seed Filled Crescents (Ukrains'ki Rohalyky). This recipe has less butter and no sour cream and no eggs in the dough.
Finnish Barley Cookies (Ohrapiparit)
Barley is low in gluten and therefore makes light, delicate and crispy cookies. I have made these many times and I just love them.
Persian Barbari Bread
This popular bread is common in Turkey, Iran, and Afghanistan, and the recipe varies a great deal from place to place.

We have successfully upgraded the forum software to SMF 2.0.1 (Simple Machines Forum) from YaBB 2.3.1 (Yet another Bulletin Board).

All messages and members (with some issues) have been transferred over to the new forum.

List of issues from transfer:
  • 48% of member passwords were lost, for those members please select "Forgot your password?" from the login screen if your password is rejected. Enter your username or Email address and a new system generated password will be sent to your registered email account, once you login you can change the password to your own under [Profile] > [Account Settings].
  • All member display names were lost due to the transfer, if you wish your username not to be displayed – go to [Profile] > [Account Settings] to change (you will require your password to verify the change).
  • The stats for the number of views from posts were not transferred over.

Top New Forum features!
  • Sub-boards, allowing better organization of recipes by country and sub-categories (e.g. Deserts, Soup & Stews, Breads, Vegetables & salads, etc.) – work in progress.
  • Faster searches, the new database format (MySQL) is much faster compared to the old YABB flat file database format.
  • Custom single post/message print, I created a new preview print page that will allow users to adjust the type size (font) for printing (adjustable from 8pt to 18pt) and URL/Attachment images are now moved to the bottom of the post for printing with the ability to toggle them on/off and toggle image sizes from 320px (less or equal to) to default image size (maximum of 680px widths to prevent cropping).

Disabled features!
  • Signatures – unfortunately spammers are using the signature to post their e-commerce web sites and spam.
  • Poll Mode – UCK has no use for polls at this point.

Thank you.
